5G deployment across Europe &EU Digital Future

EU’s connectivity performance is being consistently developed and increased in order to reach the 2025's target: uninterrupted 5G coverage in all urban areas and all major terrestrial transport paths. The EU’s vision however, for a highly digitized Europe beyond 2020, is that of leaving no one behind. Connecting all populated areas then, will be a challenge itself, since a balance has to be found between achieving European digital goals and connectivity demand in more rural and sparsely areas in Europe.

The Digital Compass translates the EU’s digital ambitions for the 2030 decade into clear, concrete targets, setting out a European way for the digital decade. The four targets that will guide this digital transition are:

1. A digitally skilled population and highly skilled digital professionals;
2. Secure and substantial digital infrastructures;
3. Digital transformation of businesses and
4. Digitisation of public sectors.
   

These targets will help increase the demand for connectivity in all populated areas and, at the same time, meet the objectives in the European Green Deal since digital technologies help reducing environmental impact. In this context, NGEU funds and Reserves will play an important role, not only to get better broadband, but also to help in the transformation of becoming a greener and more inclusive Europe.

The IV Conference on Competition and Regulation in the Telecommunications Market jointly organized by the Public-Private Sector Research Center (PPSRC) of IESE Business School University of Navarra with collaboration of CELLNEX will tackle the issues around 5G deployment across Europe and take a look into EU's Digital Future.
