One of the elements that define the 21st century is the increasing level of urban populations in countries all over the world. Cities offer big opportunities such as highly qualified jobs, good salaries, healthcare facilities, educational centers, and a wide variety of leisure activities. However, cities face important challenges resulting mainly from people agglomeration: accommodation availability, traffic congestion, pollution, or high-energy consumption.
It is the policy makers’ task to find solutions to tackle all these problems derived from cities’ success. Using private sector technology and innovation capacity through Public - Private Partnerships can provide the public sector with the necessary tools to achieve solutions to the mentioned problems.
The Conference “Reaching Smart Cities through Partnerships” will present some good practices and examples of smart solutions in the areas of transport and energy supply, aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDG)
The conference is organized by IESE Business School research center on PPP’s with the support of Catalonia Trade & Investment, the Agency for Competitiveness of the Government of Catalonia.
