IESE Test
The IESE test is only for those who are applying for the IESE MiM and can be taken just once. The IESE test measures basic skills in math, verbal
reasoning, and analytical writing, which is similar to the GMAT, and it has
to be taken in English. It consists of multiple-choice questions.
You get one point for each correct answer and lose a quarter of a point
for each wrong answer. The test is designed to provide
us with a better understanding of the candidate’s numerical ability,
calculation speed, and certain aspects of his or her verbal comprehension.
The test lasts 3 hours in total.
The IESE test consists
of 3 sections:
1)
Math section – It includes both problem-solving and data-sufficiency exercises.
The use of a calculator or other tools is not allowed, so prior preparation is
required. Such preparation will allow you to optimize your test times,
increase your calculation speed, and brush up on basic arithmetic and algebra
skills. It is very important to prepare for the math section, given the
number of questions and the time limit for each exercise. • Data sufficiency:
13 questions - 16 minutes • Problem-solving: 20 questions - 40 minutes.
2)
Verbal section – It consists of reading comprehension, critical reasoning, and
general knowledge questions based on completing sentences. It assesses reading
comprehension and the ability to evaluate arguments, as well as the
correctness of written material. • Reading comprehension - 28 questions - 20
minutes (once we have taken the text away) • Critical reasoning - 16 questions
- 25 minutes • Verbal reasoning - 12 questions - 9 minutes.
3) Business judgement – This part
enables assessment of the candidate’s ability to make objective decisions.
• Business judgement - 19 questions - 20 minutes (once we have taken the text
away).
The IESE test does not have its own preparation material, but the content is quite similar to that covered by GMAT books. You can take a look at the free GMAT preparation available on their website: https://www.mba.com/exam-prep/gmat-official-starter-kit-practice-exams-1-and-2-free
The exam costs €65. Registration for the test closes two days before the exam date.
