We are delighted to invite you to the upcoming IESE Alumni session in Milan, featuring professor Pedro Videla from the Economics Department.
On this occasion, we will explore the Global Geoeconomic Environment, marked by a turning point: the world is moving toward increasing fragmentation of international trade.
Increasingly,
trade is no longer driven by the classical logic of comparative
advantage. Instead, it is shaped by geopolitical considerations such as
security, alliances, technological dependence and control of strategic
resources. In this context, the outsourcing trend of recent decades is
losing momentum, while friend-shoring is gaining ground: shorter, more
regional and politically secure value chains.
This shift in
globalization is also accompanied by a sustained increase in military
spending. Europe, in particular, faces the need to raise its
contribution to NATO and strengthen its defense capabilities. All of
this will have significant macroeconomic implications, including higher
fiscal pressure, the reallocation of public spending and new tensions in
the balance between growth, debt and inflation.
We encourage you to take advantage of this opportunity to reconnect with fellow alumni and continue learning with IESE.
We are especially grateful to Federica de Leva, SoF -24 whose support made the venue for this event possible.
