We are honored to host Tony Barber, who will discuss "The political and economic scene in post-communist Central & Eastern Europe". Mr. Barber is European Comment Editor of the Financial Times. He is a former foreign correspondent in Austria, Belgi8um , Germany, Italy, Poland, the former Soviet Union, the US and the former Yugoslavia. His talk will draw on his long experience of Central & Eastern Europe since the communist era, and discuss what has gone right and wrong since 1989.
In 2012, he was awarded the Medal of Gratitude by the Solidarity Centre in Gdansk in recognition of his work in support of freedom and democracy in Poland. He wrote the introduction to Mud Sweeter than Honey, a book on communist Albania by the author Margo Rejmer.
Tony was awarded a 1st Class Honors degree in Modern History by St. John's College, Oxford University, in 1981.
